Im a diehard GTA1/GTA2 fan, played them to death, consider GTA3 and others way too mainstream.
Lol sometimes I wish i could be a Taxi driver in NYC or something and work night shifts 9pm to 5am. Unfortunately my current occupation as an engineer brings too much money compared to what i would be making driving a cab. I want all the nice things about taxi driving and none of the cleaning/low wages/long hours nonsense
Oh well, maybe they'd make a taxi simulator some time soon. I am guessing that system requirements are the main issue with making a game like that. Simulating city traffic with a few dozens cars in general vicinity would make the game slow down to a complete stop.
Lol I was gonna mention Quatantine but I thought that was too old-school for you all. I guess I should have known better
Im looking for a "realistic" game where I could drive a taxi cab around an area (city?), pick up passengers and deliver them places. I dont want an arcade where you get like 23 seconds to deliver 5 passangers and stuff like that.
Im gathering that im looking for a program that does not exist.
Yes absolutely! Right now every driver out there pushes break/throttle at the EXACT best moment, and turns the steering wheel to the EXACT angle, and thats why every racer has the same EXACT time on every track.
Oh wait a second, I don't think that's the case. Using NOS would require as much skill as using the throttle, and yes it would change your pit strategies. On the other hand i doubt that people would sacrifice an extra pit solely for the purpose of refueling NOS because the time lost would not be worth it.
I have a weird fascination with driving a taxi, and I was actually searching for a Taxi simulator when I first came across LFS.
I tried looking for a taxi game/simulator but I could not find anything. I dont want "Crazy taxi" or "GTA" other arcade crap like that. Is there a game/program that I don't know about where I could drive a taxi around a city?
I know it sounds retarded but I always dreamed of driving a taxi when i was a kid
I dont want to sound like a dick but you may have trouble finding a drag car that does not use nitrous oxide purge. And no you cannot have an "always on system" unless you want to travel to the moon. And yes there is a button.
TyresHot when there are a good dozen people telling you to stop spamming, maybe there some truth to it. Your post per day average is 16 which is extremely high for any forum user. In addition to that, you are a Demo driver which means that you know very little about LFS, so you should be reading more and posting much less.
And mee too excellent post! It is great to hear the perspective from a guy with real racing experience. The fact that there are so many real life race car drivers in this simulator means that the developers really did something right.
Scratch what I said, I thought that PC didn't have a real graphics card
Honestly if you know something about computers, build a PC on your own. These bundles always get you in some way, so that in 3 years you'd have to buy a new bundle.
I don't think its the trucks, most of the time it's the drivers.
Couple of years ago we had some ice on the road where I live (rare occasion) and I noticed a very perculiar sight. A guy on a Jeep Cherokee 4x4 stuck on a half inch of ice. He was sitting in this huge truck with his gas pedal to the floor spinning the wheels like crazy. It didn't cross his mind to pump the pedal gently and roll of the ice patch, or as a last resort give the truck a slight push from the back. I just shook my head, got into my front wheel drive Ford, and drove away.
Let me set one thing straight at first. Nobody shut down Dice. Dice was no longer competitive, and EA was KIND ENOUGH to buy them out. Now let me elaborate....
It is a good thing because a company that could not survive in the market (Dice) was bought out by a company that could survive (EA). If EA had not bought the company, Dice would go down the drain and all of the employees would be out on the street.
It is very easy for Dice to blame EA and say "They bought us out, we had such a good thing going, and now we're no longer independant". The truth is that in 90% of the cases the smaller companies that get bought out are not profitable anymore.
Example. When Google was just starting out they had countless offers from bigger companies to buy their search engine, but they never sold it. Why? Because Google was making money. Dice obviously was not competitive anymore, they did not sell games, and they were going out of business. EA stepped in and bought them out, and probably saved people jobs.
The reason why Dice wnt under because they were not making any money from their games, not because EA is evil. If Dice was making great games that were SELLING GREAT, like hell they would sell their business to EA. However, they could not sell their product, and they went under. End of story.
EA make games that sell. Whatever they want to do with their games, they can do it. Don't buy their games if you don't like them. Fact is that there are millions of people who love EA games, and there are thousands of stuck-up elitists like you and me that don't like them. (unfortunately) The world does not revolve around us.
You gotta have a separate graphics card if you want to play any 3D games (besides REALLY old ones). You can always find a cheap graphics card on sites like www.newegg.com, so you can buy a bundled computer and upgrade it later.
However, make sure that the mother board on the computer you are about to purchase is compatible with the latest graphic card formats.
EDIT if you are on a budget you can buy yourself an older 128mb PCI-e card, that's gonna last you a couple of years.
You can "join" the military but I don't think you can actually ship to basic at 17. I know 100% that they won't send you to the combat zone at 17, or even to the post. Possibly for training.
They are raising the minimum age because the Army is running very short on volunteers.
